The contract looked perfect. Fast, cheap, exactly what they needed. Praxis was ready to sign. Then Bastion spoke — one word, quiet and final: “Stop.” The vendor’s API terms included a clause no one had caught: an irrevocable data license, buried in section 14. “You don’t outsource your trust,” Bastion said, closing the gate. The team found a better vendor three days later — one without the clause. “I say no,” Bastion said, “so that when I say yes, you know it means something.”
