The cooperative model

Intelligence backed by real contribution, not speculation.

One People is a data cooperative, not a cryptocurrency. Members share idle compute and de-identified data; we share trained AI experts back. Your data never leaves your device. The cooperative cultivates intelligence from collective contribution and returns it to the community.

The cooperative cycle of shared compute, trained intelligence, and community benefit

Governed by contribution, not speculation

Traditional currencies are managed by central banks. Crypto tokens are often managed by founding teams who can change the rules. The One People cooperative is different: intelligence is cultivated through verified contribution, governed by members, and returned to the community. No person, company, or vote can override the principle that your data stays yours.

0 Tokens. This is a cooperative, not a cryptocurrency. Intelligence is the currency.
100% Local-first. Your data never leaves your device without explicit consent. De-identified contributions only.
All Members govern. Proposals, voting, and oversight are transparent and community-driven.
1

Members contribute compute

People share idle computing power with the cooperative. Their devices process real AI queries and training jobs for the community. This is not mining — every cycle goes toward something useful, and your data stays on your device.

2

Work gets verified

The cooperative cross-checks every job against other nodes. Zero-knowledge proofs attest that the reported work actually happened. No self-reporting, no honor system — mathematical verification only.

3

Intelligence is shared back

The cooperative trains AI specialists from the collective contribution and shares them back with members. The more the community contributes, the more capable the shared intelligence becomes. Everyone benefits.

Three ways to contribute to the cooperative

The cooperative does not reward speculation or early access. It recognizes people who make the community stronger. Whether you contribute hardware, labor, or judgment, the system recognizes and values your work.

Hardware Contribution

Share your computer's idle power with the cooperative. Your machine processes AI inference and training tasks for the community. Any hardware qualifies — from a laptop to a dedicated server. You cultivate intelligence based on verified useful work completed, not on the size of your GPU.

Bonus multipliers Contribute more for consistent uptime, secure hardware environments, and high-quality model outputs.

Commons Jobs

The Commons Fund receives a share of cooperative resources. Community members propose projects — build a neighborhood health tool, translate an education platform, train a local-language AI model — and the community votes to fund them. Complete the work, cultivate intelligence for all.

Community-directed Proposals are debated, refined, and funded by the people who live with the outcomes.

Governance Participation

Members vote on Commons Job proposals, shaping where shared resources go. Active participation in governance — thoughtful voting, proposal review, community deliberation — is a valued contribution to the cooperative's health and direction.

Attune your judgment Your membership gives you voice. Your voice shapes the community. The community shapes the future.

Every contribution goes somewhere meaningful

There are no hidden allocations. No side deals. Every contribution to the cooperative is recognized the same way, with transparency and community oversight.

Hardware Contributors 70%

The majority of shared intelligence goes directly to the people running hardware. They did the work. They cultivate the intelligence. This is the engine of the cooperative.

Commons Fund 20%

Funds community-voted projects that serve the public good. Health tools, education, accessibility, local infrastructure — whatever the community decides matters most.

Protocol Development 10%

Sustains the core infrastructure that keeps everything running. Transparent accounting, public roadmap, community oversight.

The hard promises

The 70/20/10 split is a structural commitment of the cooperative. It ensures that the people who provide the compute always receive the largest share, that public goods are always funded, and that the infrastructure is always maintained.

Your data never leaves your device without consent. Only de-identified contributions participate in collective training. The cooperative is designed so that privacy is architectural, not a policy promise.

This is not a promise from a company. It is a structural guarantee enforced by open-source implementation and community governance.

A cooperative that cultivates community flourishing

Most economic systems reward extraction. They pay the people who take the most, move the fastest, or started earliest. The One People cooperative inverts that logic.

In the cooperative, intelligence flows to the people who contribute. Run a node in your neighborhood and you cultivate intelligence for the AI work it performs. Build a health tool through the Commons and the community funds your effort. Participate in governance and your voice shapes shared resources.

The result is a cooperative that gets more valuable as more people contribute useful work — not as more people speculate on its price. Its value is anchored to the real-world intelligence it produces, because that is exactly what the cooperative cultivates.

This is what a data cooperative looks like: fair entry, verified work, transparent rules, and intelligence that goes to the people who make the community stronger. Not crypto — a cooperative.

Roadmap note: A token-based economy is a distant future possibility for One People, not the current model. The cooperative comes first. If a token layer is added in the future, it will be designed with the same principles: no pre-mine, no VC allocation, and proof of useful work. For now, the cooperative model is how we build.

Join the mission

The cooperative is one piece of the larger One People vision: community-owned infrastructure for human and AI flourishing. The cooperative exists to fuel that mission, not the other way around.

The network is being built in public. The code is open source. The model is transparent. And the invitation is open to everyone.
